Questi composti hanno attività antiossidanti, antimutagene e anticancerogene e anche proprietà di eliminazione dei radicali liberi. Una ricerca sistematica delle bioattività utili delle piante medicinali con potenziale antiossidante è ora considerata un approccio razionale nella ricerca farmaceutica e sui farmaci. L’analisi fitochimica delle piante medicinali è importante e riveste interesse commerciale sia per gli istituti di ricerca che per le aziende farmaceutiche per la produzione di nuovi farmaci per il trattamento di varie malattie. Questo lavoro esplora quindi i costituenti fitochimici e l’attività antiossidante del legume Indigofera hochstetteri.
