Die sexuelle Affektivität von Menschen mit Down-Syndrom wird nach wie vor gesellschaftlich ausgegrenzt, wodurch Stereotypen fortbestehen. In dieser Studie wird mit einem qualitativen Ansatz und einem interpretativen Paradigma untersucht, wie diese Menschen Bedeutungen über ihre Sexualität konstruieren. Es wurden eine hermeneutisch-phänomenologische Methode und ein ethnografisches Design verwendet. Die Teilnehmer waren drei Musiker mit Down-Syndrom von ALASID und ein Musiklehrer. Durch Tiefeninterviews und teilnehmende Beobachtung wurden Daten gesammelt und anhand des Glater-Modells analysiert. Die Ergebnisse, die in dialektischen Spannungen wie Überbehütung vs. Schutz, Abhängigkeit vs. Autonomie, Sexualerziehung und Behinderung vs. Behinderung gegliedert sind, werden in der Studie vorgestellt. Die Untersuchung kommt zu dem Schluss, dass Menschen mit Down-Syndrom ihr Wissen über ihre sexuelle Affektivität hauptsächlich über die Medien beziehen.
