Guiña es un joven abandonado de forma cruel por sus padres que inicia una carrera trágica que le perseguirá toda su vida. Desde el traficante árabe sin escrúpulos a un aspirante a actor que no duda en utilizar todas las artimañas a su alcance para conseguir su objetivo. Entre los personajes destaca el comisario Dávila, un agente atípico imbuido en su propio conflicto personal que aporta una visión diferente de los servicios policiales. Un decadente hostal, que da nombre a la novela, alberga parte de esta trama donde se conjuga la maldad, la hipocresía y la violencia, aportando el contrapunto a este relato de suspense no exento de pinceladas de ternura dentro de un contexto sórdido, que nos invita a reflexionar sobre la cara más oculta de la condición humana.
