El Ayuntamiento de Sevilla posee un extenso patrimonio de más de un centenar de edificios monumentales, muchos de ellos poco conocidos y apenas valorados. El autor, arquitecto municipal durante tres décadas, nos relata la historia, uso, estado de conservación, así como el proceso para su rehabilitación y recuperación de un número significativo de ellos, que incluye desde la Casa de la Moneda al Convento de Santa Clara, de las murallas islámicas de los Jardines del Valle, a la trianera Casa de las Columnas, del Monasterio de San Jerónimo a la Torre de Don Fadrique. Todo ello es descrito con un estilo llano y accesible acompañado de abundante material gráfico, inédito, del proceso de restauración llevado a cabo, incluyendo imágenes, tanto del estado anterior de las intervenciones, como del desarrollo de los trabajos. Mención aparte merecen los artículos, aparecidos en la prensa diaria, sobre aquellos temas patrimoniales que han sido objeto de polémica y debate ciudadano, como es el caso de las Atarazanas o el de la ampliación del Museo de Bellas Artes.
