Se investigó el proceso de electrocoagulación en la recuperación de plata y oro. Se estudió el efecto del pH y cambio de polaridad en una celda de electrocoagulación batch, utilizando electrodos de aluminio-hierro. Cuando se trabajó con los electrodos de aluminio como ánodo sin cambiar la polaridad de los electrodos a pH>11 los porcentajes recuperación de oro y plata incrementan. En las pruebas con cambio de polaridad los porcentajes de recuperación incrementaban con la disminución del pH con mayor porcentaje de recuperación a un pH=9.4, esto es debido a que los electrodos de hierro se pasivan menos en ese rango de pH.
