John Bunyan’s classic allegory about the Christian life, written while imprisoned for his faith. Originally published in 1678, he tells of a man named Christian who lives in the City of Destruction, who realizes he carries a heavy burden on his back with no way to remove it, and, despite being mocked by everyone in town, decides to leave behind everything and everyone to go on a journey to remove the burden so he can reach the ultimate destination called the Celestial City. He interacts with people sent by Apollyon to be distractions and temptations, as well as encountering others who are sent by the Lord of the Celestial City to help him along his travels, even making friends who are travelling the same journey.
