Low birth weight is the most important index to determine the chances of the newborn to survive and have a normal growth and development, at the end of 2022 in Santo Domingo the low birth weight index exceeded the provincial and national average, so an investigation was conducted in systems and services with the objective of describing the clinical-epidemiological and service factors in pregnant women with low birth weight in the municipality in the period 2020- 2022. Twenty-five pregnant women were selected by non-probabilistic sampling by criteria. Through a descriptive and retrospective study and with a systemic approach in its three dimensions, criteria, indicators and standards were elaborated using the evaluative criteria elaborated by the author and the group of experts. In the contribution of low birth weight, some epidemiological factors were identified, but there are still deficiencies in the care of pregnant women in the process dimension that require immediate solution.
