Since the birth of lexicography, many repertoires have been published: vocabularies, treasures, lexicons or dictionaries. Within the latter, different types can be distinguished according to their purpose: monolingual dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, illustrated dictionaries, doubt dictionaries, specialized dictionaries, synonym dictionaries, school dictionaries or, among others, historical dictionaries. In this book we review the latter, specifically those considered to be the most relevant and significant within this genre. In this review we will deal with the birth and development of repertoires such as the 'Deutsches Wörterbuch' by the Grimm brothers, the 'Oxford English Dictionary' by Murray or the 'Diccionari català-valencià-balear' by Alcover and Moll, among others.
