A inicios del siglo XXII, la Gran Guerra Tecnológica ha llegado a su fin, convirtiendo a Nuevos Estados Unidos en el vencedor y líder de las demás naciones. La «Familia», el grupo de siete hombres que ahora administra el planeta, ha concluido que el Homo Sapiens debe morir para darle paso al Homo Submissus, aquella nueva generación de hombres y mujeres que serán gobernados por medio de bio nanotecnología y del control absoluto de los medios de comunicación, la política, el sistema bancario, la industria farmacéutica, la religión, la tecnología y la industria nuclear y alimenticia; todo por medio de un niño que será usado como símbolo para, por fin, crear un total y perfecto orden mundial. La corrupta, imperfecta y ultra poderosa Familia no lo tendrá fácil, pues se enfrentará cada uno de sus integrantes a sus propias familias, temerosas del plan y sedientas de más poder, y de un grupo de piratas informáticos, deseosos de crear un mundo menos vigilado y más libre para antes de que la raza humana quede extinta tras haber sufrido una hemianopsia global.
