Lleva además una enigmática carta que deberá entregar a Svante Einarson, maestro constructor de la catedral de Toledo. En su travesía por el Mediterráneo, su goleta es abordada por los piratas berberiscos, sufriendo un penoso cautiverio en una oscura mazmorra de la ciudad de Túnez.Intrigas, asesinatos, incendios, hambruna, peste y amor son algunos de los sucesos que ocurren en esta novela donde finalmente se desvela el secreto del tesoro templario.El Secreto de la Ermita Templaria es la última novela de la trilogía El Temple en el Campo de Montiel.
