Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit befasst sich mit der Schul- und Lebenslaufbahn der Costa-Ricaner1 in drei ländlichen Gebieten Costa Ricas: Longo Mäi, Tortuguero und Península de Osa. Der Tourismus hat in diesen Orten in den letzten Jahren zugenommen und tangiert das Leben der Einheimischen in verschiedenen Bereichen, so auch im Bildungswesen. Die Leitfrage der Studie umfasst die Hoffnung auf sozialen Aufstieg durch Bildungsaufstieg und die damit verbundene Frage, inwieweit die Schullaufbahn der Costa-Ricaner- und somit auch ihre Lebenslaufbahn - vom Tourismus geprägt werden. 3
