Don Quixote of La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes is one of the earliest and most influential novels in Western literature. First published in two parts (1605 and 1615), it tells the story of Alonso Quixano, a man so obsessed with tales of knights and chivalry that he decides to become one himself. Donning the name Don Quixote, he sets out on a series of misadventures with his loyal but skeptical squire, Sancho Panza.Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616) was a Spanish novelist, poet, and playwright. Don Quixote is considered the first modern novel, a classic of Western literature, and is regarded among the best works of fiction ever written.
