Este libro aborda el diseño e implementación de un Controlador Lógico Programable (PLC) basado en tecnología abierta para el control y automatización de un sistema de tratamiento de agua. El capítulo 1 detalla la propuesta, alcance y objetivos, basados en los requerimientos de la planta de tratamiento, e introduce herramientas de tecnología abierta. En el capítulo 2, se describe el desarrollo del diseño, desde la selección del microcontrolador y componentes electrónicos hasta el diseño de la placa de circuito impreso y el modelado 3D de las carcasas. Se analiza la lógica de control y el código de programación. El capítulo 3 presenta un análisis de costos exhaustivo, incluyendo gastos de componentes, fabricación y programación, para evaluar la inversión económica. Finalmente, el capítulo 4 sintetiza los hallazgos y resultados, evaluando el cumplimiento de los objetivos y señalando limitaciones y áreas de mejora para futuros desarrollos.
