Desde las relaciones internacionales, este libro ofrece una perspectiva original y sólida respecto al papel de la diplomacia cultural en contextos de estigmatización internacional. A través de los casos de Chile, Cuba y Colombia, analiza cómo estos países, señalados como “violadores de derechos humanos”, desplegaron diplomacia cultural —desde la aceptación, el rechazo o la contraestigmatización del estigma— para proyectar internacionalmente identidades complejas, humanas y diversas a inicios de la Posguerra Fría. Así, el texto propone el concepto de diplomacia cultural disruptiva, que amplía y enriquece las formas tradicionales de concebir, practicar y estudiar la diplomacia cultural. La obra trasciende divisiones ideológicas y muestra cómo el arte, la historia y las culturas latinoamericanas han sido vehículos de diálogo, reconocimiento y reconstrucción simbólica en contextos de conflicto y vigilancia internacional. A su vez, ofrece un abordaje multidimensional de los derechos humanos y del estigma asociado con su violación. De este modo, se convierte en una lectura imprescindible para repensar lo (inter)nacional desde lo cultural.
