El presente libro busca develar los misterios que envuelven al arte rupestre de la región de Coquimbo. Distribuidos a lo largo de los cerros y quebradas, miles de rocas se encuentran marcadas con imágenes que van desde una simple representación humana hasta complejas marcas que combinan múltiples motivos geométricos. En este libro discutimos cómo esas rocas marcadas almacenan una rica historia de 5.000 años, la cual comprende tanto a grupos cazadores-recolectores, poblaciones agrícolas y el impacto de la conquista Inkaica y Española sobre este territorio. Para ello, por sobre acceder al significado de las imágenes, se explora cómo sus formas de producción, experienciación y relaciones espaciales nos permiten acercarnos a entender las distintas formas de habitar un mismo territorio a lo largo de estos 5.000 años, y cómo tras ellas se configuran distintos paisajes históricos relacionados con las dinámicas sociales y políticas de los grupos humanos. Finalmente, el libro propone una reflexión sobre cómo el arte rupestre nos permite pensar nuestra actual relación con la naturaleza, la memoria de un territorio y un futuro que se ve amenazado por el cambio climático. 10
